Movies of the month:
February’s here, the cold’s still hanging around, and it’s prime season for disappearing into a dark cinema or hammering the streaming apps with something worth your time. Whether you’re after big action, sharp thrills, horror with teeth, or something gritty to watch with a couple of beers, this month’s releases deliver the goods.
Here are five February films Loaded readers should have on their radar.
Crime 101
Where / When: In cinemas, February

Why watch:
A hard-edged heist thriller with serious star power, this one leans into smart criminal tactics, tension over explosions, and men making bad decisions under pressure. Slick, muscular and grown-up and ideal if you like your crime films sharp rather than shiny.
Scream 7
Where / When: In cinemas, late February

Why watch:
Ghostface returns, and so does proper slasher chaos. Expect brutal kills, self-aware humour, and crowd-pleasing shocks. Best enjoyed in a packed cinema where half the room screams, and the other half laughs nervously. Perfect lads’ night horror.
The Bluff
Where / When: Streaming on Prime Video, February

Why watch:
A swaggering action-adventure with pirates, revenge, and old-school grit. It’s fast-moving, violent in places, and unapologetically entertaining. Ideal if you want something punchy that doesn’t require homework or emotional preparation.
Wuthering Heights
Where / When: In cinemas, mid-February

Why watch:
This isn’t your GCSE English version. Dark, obsessive, emotionally savage and visually striking, this new take on the classic leans hard into passion and madness. Surprisingly intense, and a strong shout if you want something dramatic but still heavyweight.
Midwinter Break
Where / When: In cinemas, February

Why watch:
A quieter, moodier option for when you’re not in the mood for explosions. Character-led, atmospheric and reflective, it’s the kind of film that sneaks up on you after a few pints. Understated but sharp, and refreshingly adult.
