Wrestler Tommy Tanner Makes Acting Debut in New Thriller Mickey the Muscle
Professional wrestler Tommy Tanner is set to make his acting debut in a new short film, Mickey the Muscle, a psychological thriller directed by Ieuan Coombs.
The film centres on a former world-champion bodybuilder struggling to adapt to life after his glory days have passed, exploring themes of masculinity, pride, and the necessity for change.

Tanner, 28 — known on the UK wrestling circuit as “The Ultimate Geezer” — has a cameo role in the project and will deliver a number of speaking lines.
Based in North London, Tanner is a trainee of renowned wrestling coach Greg Burridge and has ambitions of signing with one of the world’s major global wrestling promotions in the coming years.

Speaking ahead of filming, Tanner said:
“We’re set to start filming in late February, and I have a small part which I’m thrilled about.
The film was inspired by Ieuan’s time spent with my bodybuilding coach Ian Dowe, who runs Dowe Dynamics and was a world champion back in the day.
The film explores masculinity, pride and the necessity for change, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Tanner currently trains/wrestles six days a week and is scheduled to compete in a number of bouts across Europe prior to filming. He has also been selected to appear on PROGRESS Wrestling’s fight card for their Las Vegas event aligned with the official WrestleMania weekend later this spring.
In addition to the film, Tanner has been cast in an upcoming television commercial set to be released in February.

Director leuan Coombs said of Mickey the Muscle:
“This story is very personal to me, and this feels like the right moment to make the film. Bodybuilding is experiencing a resurgence, driven by figures such as Chris Bumstead and Sam Sulek, who are introducing the sport to a younger audience.
I’ve spent a lot of time in this world — through my friendship with Ian, my documentary work, and my own training — and I’m passionate about getting this right.”
