A Winter Wake Up for Your Skin

Alright, it’s that time of year yet again.
A Winter Wake Up for Your Skin

As the weather goes from relatively decent to properly awful, there’s a high likelihood that your skin might be throwing a minor shit fit over the immediate and drastic change in the British climate.

Now, let’s be real.

Nobody likes feeling dry and cracked, and crumpled – and unfortunately for us lucky few, the British winter makes our skin's natural oils bolt out the door. Not ideal.

So, with that being said, we here at Loaded thought we could do you a major favour by selecting a few of our favourite products to try and give your skin (and the weather) the wake up call it's been needing.

Doers of London Hydrating Face Cream

This all-natural, lightweight face cream is perfect for men with active lifestyles, whether it’s the gym or the religious Friday night out. Its sole purpose is to deeply hydrate the skin without leaving a greasy finish, as if there’s one thing worse than feeling dry, it’s feeling shiny and sticky. Jam packed with ingredients like jojoba oil and green tea extract, it delivers long-lasting moisture and supports skin elasticity. Its soothing formula, including borage oil and vitamin E, calms irritated or sensitive skin while protecting against environmental stressors (which we all know, there are a lot of).

Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Energising Face Wash

Kiehl's Facial Fuel is a revitalising face wash that energises and refreshes tired skin. Formulated with caffeine, menthol, and vitamin E, this cleanser not only removes impurities and excess oil but also wakes up dull skin, leaving it invigorated and clean, perfect for the days after a big one. The mild formula works for all skin types without stripping the skin's natural oils. It's ideal for morning use, giving you that refreshing boost to start the day, or as a post-workout cleanser. Regular use leaves skin feeling soft, clear, and ready for whatever the day throws at you.

The Ordinary Lactic Acid (10% + HA)

The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid 10% + HA serum is a gentle exfoliant that helps improve skin texture, clarity, and general tone.

The word acid is not to be feared, this lightweight serum exfoliates the skin’s surface to remove dead cells and promote skin renewal, cool right? Lactic acid, a mild alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), also hydrates while improving signs of ageing like fine lines and uneven texture. Hyaluronic acid (HA) boosts hydration, making this serum suitable for most skin types.

This project is truly an all-round good egg, helping you shed and heal at the same time – duality!

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Lip Balm

La Roche-Posay’s Cicaplast Lip is a repairing balm specifically designed for dry, chapped lips.

Cracked lips, not only look slightly sore, but my god don’t they sting.

Infused with soothing ingredients like shea butter and Panthenol, it provides intense hydration and a protective barrier against external aggressors like the cold weather or dry air. The lightweight, non-greasy texture absorbs quickly, leaving lips feeling soft and plush. The gentle ingredients make this product suitable for sensitive skin. This lip balm is ideal for daily use, helping to heal and prevent further irritation.

Water

Now, I’m sure that for most of the planet, being told to drink more water is a nag that you don’t want to hear from me.

But it’s true.

A great way to boost natural oils in the skin is to religiously drink your daily 2 litres, but this is easier said than done.

It’s cold, it's bitter, and the last thing you want to do after a long day battling the elements is to sit down and put away 2 litres of water. Although it seems minorly intimidating, try finding time in your day to have a glass; if it’s good enough for your skin's natural oils, it’s good enough for you to give it a good go.

As frustrating as it is, products can only do so much, and sometimes the best things are right in front of you the whole time.
