Brush Like a Boss

As a guy, brushing your hair is probably part of your daily norm, but have you ever considered brushing your body? And no, we’re not talking about your chest rug or downstairs department either…

*Body brushing enters the chat…* a game-changing addition to your grooming arsenal that’s packed with benefits for your skin, circulation, and overall well-being.

Years ago, I was in Ibiza, and, as you do, we got chatting with a lovely fella. He was topless (of course), and we couldn’t help but notice he had a case of “bacne” (spots and blackheads on his back). Naturally, my equally grotesque friend and I decided to *help* him ‘on the spot’, both straddling him on the posh terrace of a nightclub  digging out blackheads with our bare hands (Britain’s Got Talon, anyone?).

Here’s the thing, before two feral women feel compelled to attack your bacne, body brushing could spare you the humiliation.

Body brushing is the ultimate exfoliation hack:

It sloughs away dead skin cells, unclogs pores, and leaves your skin feeling smoother than a seal. It helps prevent ingrown hairs, which is particularly handy for men who shave their “odds and sods.” Done properly (yes, it needs to be done dry) it might sting a bit at first, but it’s worth it for the feel-good results.

When you brush, always go for gentle strokes (enough with the rude innuendos fellas, we’ve already got someone in big shit for his big bap/soggy tart jokes…) brushing towards the heart to align with your lymphatic system. The brush will feel a bit spiky, but that’s part of the charm. Follow up after each stroke with a gentle rub upwards of your flat palm to soothe the skin, and you’re good to go.

The benefits of body brushing:

  • Brushing gets your blood pumping, delivering oxygen and nutrients to the skin for a healthier glow.

  • It activates your lymphatic system, helping your body flush out toxins and reduce bloating.

  • It doubles as a self-massage, easing tension and promoting mental calm.

  • Regular brushing increases skin elasticity and reduces the appearance of rough patches or bumps.

As your grooming guru, I’d recommend 2–3 times a week to see the benefits without overdoing it. A morning session is particularly invigorating, giving you a short, sharp wake-up call to kickstart the day. Men’s skin is naturally thicker with larger pores, making body brushing even more beneficial to you. Plus, it’s low-maintenance, quick, and fits seamlessly into any routine.

Ready to level up your grooming game? Time to get brushing, lads. You’ll thank me later.
