Happy New Year from Miss England

Forget Resolutions—Focus on You
Happy New Year from Miss England

It’s that time of year when everyone seems to be shouting about New Year’s resolutions. Social media is flooded with promises to hit the gym, quit sugar, or become a meditation guru overnight. But let’s be real—how many of those resolutions actually make it past February? Instead of jumping on the resolution bandwagon, let’s talk about something more meaningful: mindfulness and simple, positive adjustments.

Here’s the thing: the start of a new year doesn’t have to mean overhauling your life in some big, dramatic way. Life isn’t a race to perfection—it’s about making changes that feel good and sustainable for you. It’s okay to not have your life completely mapped out by January 1. Instead of feeling the pressure to reinvent yourself, why not take a moment to reflect on what’s truly important to you?

Mindfulness is a great place to start. It’s not just about meditating (although that can help); it’s about tuning in to how you feel and what you really want. Have you been craving more time in nature? Are you itching to try something new, like a hobby or skill you’ve always put off? Or maybe you just want to work on being kinder to yourself—because, let’s face it, we all need to give ourselves a break sometimes.

When you take a mindful approach to setting goals, it’s less about ticking off a checklist and more about building habits that add to your life. For me, being near the ocean is my happy place. Surfing clears my mind and gives me perspective, and as a surfer, I’ve seen firsthand how being connected to nature can do wonders for your well-being. It’s not about chasing perfection—it’s about finding what works for you and leaning into it.

Even my #GoFarwithCPR CAMPAIGN started with a simple thought: "what can I do to help?"

Small adjustments can have a big impact. Whether it’s spending less time on your phone, moving your body in a way that feels good, or carving out time to reconnect with friends, these little changes are often the ones that stick. They’re not about transforming yourself overnight—they’re about showing up for yourself in a way that feels manageable and authentic.

So this year, instead of setting rigid resolutions, why not set an intention? Think about what truly brings you joy and peace, and focus on bringing more of that into your life. Goals don’t have to be grand to be meaningful. Maybe it’s as simple as getting outside more, finding ways to give back, or learning something new.

And remember, progress isn’t linear. It’s okay to stumble along the way. The key is to keep going, keep reflecting, and keep being kind to yourself.

So here’s to a mindful and meaningful 2025. Let’s make it a year of small steps, steady progress, and positive changes—on your own terms.
