Unknown Mortal Orchestra: "IC-02 Bogotá" ⭐⭐⭐⭐
And now for something completely different…
If you’re expecting Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s usual trippy, funky bangers, IC-02 Bogotá might throw you for a loop. This isn’t a party soundtrack; it’s UMO getting deep, weird, and experimental in another instrumental following the release of “IC-01 Hanoi”.
It feels at bit like a late-night jam session fueled by mystery and maybe a few hallucinogens. It’s packed with moody, atmospheric instrumentals that sound like they were recorded in a smokey basement by candlelight. Nonetheless, they still contain the usual UMO raw, hypnotic vibes.
There’s a real off-the-cuff, improvised feel to it, which makes it cool in a “musicians messing about and somehow making magic” kind of way.
Casual UMO fans might not be into it, but if you like your music strange, dark, and immersive, this is one to stick on with a few drinks and let it take you somewhere else.
It’s not for the faint-hearted, but if you’re into the weirder side of things, this one’s a trip worth taking.
