Fleetwood Mac: “Live From The Record Plant” ⭐⭐⭐
Not gonna lie, it’s a quiet week as far as releases go, but this album from Fleetwood Mac should keep you going until things start to warm up again.
When the band hit the stage at the Record Plant in San Francisco on December 15, 1974, they were teetering on the edge of a seismic shift. Bob Welch and Christine McVie were at the helm, but Welch had one foot out the door, soon to be swapped for the now-iconic duo of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Sure, everyone bangs on about the chart-topping, arena-filling glory days that were just around the corner, but don’t forget Welch. The guy brought a laid-back yet gritty vibe.
This live set is a reminder of how electric Fleetwood Mac was in its underrated Welch era, blending early classics with then-new gems. It’s raw, it’s cool, and it’s a showcase for a talent who deserves way more love than he gets. Forget the polished perfection that was coming; this is Mac at their edgiest and arguably their coolest.
Stand-out tracks: “Angel”, “Black Magic Woman”.
