We’ve all had a rough night in a roadside bunk-up. Those ones with the continental brekkie and promises of ‘extra comfy’ pillows. You wake up hunting around for the Optrex and stumble out the door like you’ve been spooned by a lorry driver.
Getting home after a night on the road is always nice. As a bed hopping journalist, my own sheets come calling often. We spend a decent whack of our lives in bed. It was time to upgrade, optimise and tuck in for the best possible summer sleep experience.
‘Blissfully soft, silky and gentle’ was what was written on the tin. Bamboo is said to be naturally temperature regulating for cool comfort, exceptionally moisture absorbing and breathable. I know a good mattress makes me sleep better. Personally, I don’t like it too hard and I’m not one for supersoft either, but I hadn’t really considered the impact the sheets or duvet could have on my nights.
Belledorm shipped out some hypoallergenic Bamboo bed linen. The lure of a better night’s sleep was somewhat attractive but I wasn’t completely sold on the extent of the impact ditching cotton for Bamboo could have.
I genuinely haven’t slept the night through for the best part of ten years. I’m always fidgeting to go to the loo, tend to the kid or check emails at 2am. Here’s how it went…
The Slide In
Lads, listen up. This fitted sheet gave me the softest, comfiest base to slide into I’ve ever experienced. Like silk but without that slippery Peter Stringfellow sort of touch to it. The summer duvet was equally impressive, paired with the duvet cover and pillow cases which caressed my face like candy floss all night long.
The Sleep
I didn’t wake up! I couldn’t fucking believe it. The first time in ten years. Could it really be because of some bedding? Time would tell…
The Durability
One week later and I’ve slept through six nights in seven. These sheets have literally transformed my night life. I’m shocked. Really recommend.
