GOOD WORK, FELLA
by stewart lochrie
Alright lads, we love a geezer who knows how to knock one in from 30 yards or belt out a number one hit—but this month, we’re raising a pint to those who’ve used their fame to do a bit of proper good for the world. Whether it’s coughing up cash for charity, backing the underdogs, or quietly helping those in need, these fellas have proved that you don’t need a cape to be a hero.
Here’s our Good Work, Fella lineup for July. Lads, we salute you.
Michael Sheen – Championing Homelessness

On 5 June 2025, Sheen released his debut children’s book, A Home for Spark the Dragon. But he’s not pocketing the profits—he’s pledged £1 from every hardback and 50p from every paperback sold in the UK and Ireland to Shelter, the homelessness charity. A class act with a cause.
Jack Grealish – Quiet Hero of Everyday Struggles

Forget the headlines—Grealish has been quietly donating thousands to strangers in need via GoFundMe. From a cancer-stricken dad to a grieving family, he’s dished out funds without the fanfare. Turns out the lad’s just as sharp off the pitch as he is on it.
Bill Gates – Honoured for Global Health Impact

In early June, Gates received Nigeria’s Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic award. It’s recognition for decades of support in public health and agriculture, including life-saving vaccine work and crop development across the continent. Not bad for a computer nerd.
David Beckham – Knighted for Charity

It finally happened—Sir David Beckham. Knighted in the King’s 2025 Birthday Honours “for services to sport and charity,” Becks has spent years raising millions for everything from children’s health to the arts. Still bending it for Britain.
Jeff Bezos – Giving Back in Venice

You’d think planning a mega-wedding would be enough, but Bezos and fiancée Lauren Sánchez have announced they’re donating part of their big day’s budget to local Venice charities. Say what you will about billionaires—but that’s amore with impact.
Good work, fellas.
