Loaded cover stars from the 00s - Where are they now?

Jessie Wallace - December 2000

“I’d like to have sex in the thunder, in a field thick with mud, with a man in a top hat”

Jessie kicked off her career as an actress in the now-defunct TV series The Bill, and like most actors at that time, made the natural progression over to Albert Square once her time was over at Sun Hill.

She made an instant impact as Kat Slater, a character known for her fake tan, short skirts, and mouth on a stick. Her storylines were rarely without controversy, not least the “baby swap” plotline which received over 6,000 complaints.

Jessie/Kat continues to step in and out of the Square in between other acting jobs and has won numerous awards for her performances.

No word from the man in the top hat, but if you’re out there, give us a shout.

Nell McAndrew- November 2001

“I do think about sex a lot. I just want to do it as often as I can”

The former glamour model continues to have a successful career, after being fired as the Lara Croft video game model when she posed nude for Playboy. As well as being a contestant on numerous celebrity game shows, she’s presented several highly successful fitness videos. And she’s in pretty good nick these days too.

In fact, she’s a highly competent runner, having completed the London Marathon in less than three hours. Who says thinking a lot about physical activity doesn’t help keep you in shape?

Carmen Electra - March 2002

“You won’t believe what you can find out about my sexual preferences, just by asking”

A Baywatch babe in the 90s, Carmen Electra then became world-famous for hosting the MTV show Singled Out. Then followed a whole host of movie credits including Scary Movie, American Vampire, and Starsky and Hutch.

It was only in 2024 that she decided to legally change her name from Tara Leigh Patrick to Carmen Electra, so we’re guessing she’s sticking with it.

And did we ask the right questions about her preferences? You’ll need to check the archives.

Kelly Brook- May 2003

“I did a play about pole dancing. I’m quite flexible”

Here’s another girl who went the model/TV presenting/acting route and with some success too. We remember her presenting The Big Breakfast alongside Johnny Vaughan, as well as appearing in a series of high-profile ad campaigns back in the day. These included Foster's lager, Walkers crisps, Lynx body spray, and somewhat unforgetably, Bravissimo. She even made an appearance in Pulp’s Help The Aged video.

Her acting work has been a proper mix of movie, TV,  and theatre work, including Agatha Christie’s Marple, Piranha 3D, and Calendar Girls. Most recently she’s appeared on Celebrity Race Across The World with her husband Jeremi Parisi, who we feel confident could vouch for her current flexibility.

March 2004- Christina Aguilera

“I’m a proud sexual woman”

She’s come a long way since appearing in the Mickey Mouse Club as a kid. Her career properly kicked off after recording Reflection for the Mulan movie and she hasn’t looked back since. She had three major hits in the 90s including the annoying earworm, Genie In A Bottle. She then took on a more mature image in the noughties and really thrived. Her 2002 album, Stripped, broke records and is currently one of the best-selling albums of this century.

100 million record sales, five Grammy awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame later, she shows no signs of stopping, despite the fact that she says her knees are pretty fucked up due to wearing stilettos a bit too often. I know the feeling.

April 2006- Jennifer Ellison

“I’m not brave enough to do it outdoors. I’m afraid I’ll appear on Crimewatch”

The former Brookside babe was a cover star a few years after her character fell out of the window to an untimely demise in the soap opera. Since leaving the close she’s appeared in several TV reality series, including showing her determination and grit on Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins, which included an entertaining fight with The Only Way Is Essex star Pete Wicks.

Anyone with Crimewatch footage, please send it this way.

February 2008- Danielle Lloyd

“I’ve got enough secrets to fill ten books”

Danielle’s career took off when she won the Miss England and Miss Great Britain titles back in the early noughties. She was stripped of her crown when it was discovered she’d posed nude for Playboy. Thankfully, the judges saw sense and later reinstated it.

Despite confusing a statue of Winston Churchill with “The first back president”, she’s proved pretty handy in TV challenges. Her successes include winning The Weakest Link, Total Wipeout and Come Dine With Me.

She’s been keeping herself busy in recent years being a mum to five kids and currently revealed she’s trying for a sixth!

Hopefully, she’ll also find the time to write the ten volumes of scandal she promised us.

July 2009- Jessica-Jane Clement

“I’d rather wrestle with a turtle head than anything else”

The former Playboy model and The Real Hustle presenter has ticked most boxes in the entertainment industry. As well as modelling and presenting, she's appeared in celebrity game shows and is an accomplished actress with a string of credits, including comedy horror movies Cannibals and Carpet Fitters and Doghouse.

Her recent appearance on TV show I'm A Celebrity proved she's still got the hustle, lasting 13 of the 19 days.

“Turtley” awesome.
