Robocop Is Here: UP.FIT's Tactical Tesla Cybertruck Unveiled.

Located just a stone's throw from Tesla’s design hub in Hawthorne, California, Unplugged Performance has been the go-to place for top-notch EV upgrades and performance parts for nearly a decade. They've been tweaking, upgrading, and racing Teslas with impressive results. So, it was no surprise when, in 2020, the South Pasadena Police Department came knocking, asking for help to convert their fleet of cruisers and patrol vehicles to an all-electric lineup. This collaboration eventually spawned a new division, aptly named UP.FIT.

After rolling out UP.FIT Tactical packages for the Model Y, Model 3, Model S, and Model X, the team has now unveiled a police package for the futuristic Tesla Cybertruck.

Exterior Upgrades

To morph the already rugged Cybertruck into a law enforcement beast, it’s been kitted out with a plethora of modifications. The UP.FIT Cybertruck sports a front-mounted bumper and push bar with integrated multi-angle warning lights, a remotely-operated fender-mounted spotlight and wigwag system, a custom-integrated high and low-frequency siren system, exterior window guards, a custom-engineered side-skirt with built-in warning lights, rear-facing warning lights, and a roof-mounted light bar with color warning lights, scene lights, and alley lights. Each Cybertruck is also decked out in a custom livery specific to the department.

Hardware Upgrades

The Cybertruck’s powertrain is already a beast, boasting incredible power and acceleration. However, the folks at UP.FIT have added a few hardware upgrades to handle the added weight of all the new gear. This includes optional forged 18” UP.FIT Police Wheels with all-terrain tires, an upgraded braking package, and an off-road package that enhances the Cybertruck’s already impressive capabilities.

Available Optional Upgrades

Beyond the standard UP.FIT Tactical conversion, there are several optional upgrade packages available. These include an SWAT package, a supervisor package, a Pursuit Performance Package, a search and rescue pack, and a K9 package. Additionally, there’s an NIJ 3 Ballistics Protection package, a Starlink Satellite Internet Preparation pack, and an UP.FIT Future Proof Package, offering police departments a plethora of custom configurations.

Cop-Spec Cabin

Inside, the UP.FIT Tactical Cybertruck boasts a suite of upgrades. This includes a fully customisable array of buttons and toggle switches to control lights and sirens, a custom-programmed Whelen Core lights & siren computer, UV-protective window tint, an UP.FIT Wiring Package, a remote fender-spotlight controller, and a comfort control center with integrated controls.

Performance Capabilities

The UP.FIT Cybertruck is the most ballistically-capable Patrol vehicle to date, an impressive feat given the armouring of their existing cruisers. Despite the added weight of the police gear, this Tri-Motor “Beast” spec patrol vehicle pumps out 834hp and 740ft-lbs of torque, rocketing from 0 to 60mph in just 2.6 seconds. It’s capable of keeping up with the bad guys on or off-road and offers a range of 340 miles per charge, more than enough for a typical patrol shift.
