There are few venues more fitting for an intimate celebration of British guitar music than London's iconic 100 Club, and Shed Seven made the most of the setting as they officially launched their forthcoming self-titled (seventh) album with a special acoustic show last week.
With BBC Radio 6 Music's Steve Lamacq guiding the evening, the atmosphere felt less like a promotional event and more like a gathering of old friends. Fans packed into the legendary basement venue were rewarded with stripped-back performances that showcased the strength of the band's songwriting, allowing Rick Witter's distinctive vocals and Paul Banks' melodic guitar work to shine without distraction.
The new songs sat comfortably alongside long-loved classics, suggesting that their latest material belongs naturally within their catalogue rather than simply being a revisiting of past glories. Lead single Stand Together proved particularly effective in the intimate surroundings, its uplifting message resonating with the audience.

What made the evening special wasn't just the music but the connection between band and audience. Three decades into their career, they continue to perform with warmth, humour and a refreshing lack of pretension. The 100 Club's close quarters only amplified that bond, creating one of those gigs where every person in the room felt part of the occasion.

As album launches go, this was understated, heartfelt and utterly convincing. If the new album (due to be released on 8th January 2027) captures even half the spirit and authenticity on display at the 100 Club, Shed Seven fans have every reason to be excited about what comes next.
